The Labour Court did not recommend concession of Mandate’s claim for compensation for Penneys Dundrum staff after the store’s relocation and loss of car parking. The recommendation was dated 27 May 2005. Mandate sought compensation for increased travel time and parking costs, and raised concerns about facilities and uniforms. The company said the former parking was outside its control. The Court found the parking had been provided by the shopping-centre owners on a grace-and-favour basis and was lost because the centre was to be demolished. It also found that the disturbance caused by the move did not justify the payments sought.
