The Labour Court recommended an adequate professional development budget for public health service perfusionists, to be agreed jointly with the Senior Perfusionist. It also recommended restoring the claimant’s differential on a personal-to-holder, red-circled basis, while the parties should agree a more appropriate group for aligning perfusionists on on-call arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 24 May 2005. The dispute between the Health Service Executive and the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union concerned about 20 perfusionists. The union sought a laboratory manager post, training funding and revised on-call rates. The Court did not recommend the laboratory manager claim as made, but recommended restoring the differential; it considered the on-call claim cost-increasing and precluded under Sustaining Progress.
