The Labour Court recommended against granting enhanced superannuation benefits to 30 nurses at Heatherside Hospital in Cork. The recommendation was signed on 19 May 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Irish Nurses Organisation argued that the nurses’ duties were similar to those in designated hospitals. Heatherside Hospital, represented by the Southern Health Board, was not a designated hospital under the Mental Treatment Act 1945, and the Court found no grounds to concede the claim.
