Labour Court recommends Teagasc concede claim over abandoned promotion panel

The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc concede a union claim after finding there was no justifiable reason to abandon a Grade 4 promotion panel before it expired. The recommendation was signed on 13 May 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the panel should have run for its customary two-year term and that moving the post did not justify ending it early. Management argued that relocating headquarters changed the role and warranted a new competition. The Court recommended that the worker be paid the salary she would have received if appointed in September 2004, with the salary retained on a personal-to-holder basis.
