The Labour Court recommended that Duchas and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union process a pay claim through the National Joint Industrial Council for State Employees, with the process to be completed within six months. The recommendation was signed on 13 May 2005. The union sought full access for Tour Guides to the Clerical Officer pay scale and an increase in Head Guides’ weekly allowance from about €28 to €100. Management said guides’ pay was set through the council and opposed the claim.
