The Labour Court recommended a review of the full-time union convenor position for Dublin’s voluntary hospitals, including a claim for out-of-pocket expenses. The recommendation was signed on 29 April 2005, and the Court said the review should be completed by the end of August 2005.
The Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union sought a pay structure reflecting electricians’ average earnings, compensation for claimed lost earnings and facilities for the convenor. The union claimed €62,000 in lost earnings and sought €4,000 per year for equipment and other facilities. Health Service Employers said the convenor received the agreed maximum foreman rate, travel time and a tool allowance, and disputed responsibility for any loss.
