The Labour Court recommended that Glanbia Meats and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union resume negotiations over pay for eight maintenance staff at the Roscrea plant. The recommendation, dated 22 April 2005, said unresolved issues could be referred back to the Court. The union sought an increase from the €14.50 hourly rate, arguing that comparable craftworkers earned more. Glanbia Meats proposed a bonus expected to add about €40 to €50 a week per worker and said its Roscrea maintenance staff were the division’s highest paid.
