The Labour Court recommended that Glanbia and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union refine proposals on temporary staffing and overtime cover. The recommendation was signed on 31 March 2005. The dispute also concerned pay parity for non-red-circled staff and a voucher for changing to a swipe-card system. The union sought €10.71 a week in backdated pay and a €500 voucher; Glanbia said pay parity had not been agreed and the €30 voucher was a goodwill gesture. The Court recommended replacing “students” with “temporary” employees and completing discussions on staffing structures within a month. It deferred recommendations on pay parity and the swipe-card claim until those discussions had concluded, and asked the parties to report back.
