The Labour Court recommended a once-off compensatory payment of €1,500 for each claimant, with €500 for the retired claimant, after a nursing education centre moved from Sligo General Hospital to Cregg House. The recommendation, dated 15 March 2005, concerned a dispute between the Health Service Executive, North Western Area and the Irish Nurses Organisation. The centre moved about three miles within the same side of town. The union said the transfer was imposed and sought ongoing travel expenses and a lump sum. The Board said the move was needed to develop services at the General Hospital and disputed the compensation claim.
