The Labour Court recommended that a claim by three Central Services Managers at Iadt Dun Laoghaire for five additional annual leave days a year be not conceded. The recommendation was signed on 28 February 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the extra leave in lieu of church holidays worked, with the claim backdated to 14 March 2001. The managers received 29 days of annual leave, compared with 34 days for counterparts at other institutes. The Court said the comparator grades’ extra leave came from a national agreement that did not apply to the managers, and that arrangements differed between institutes. It recommended against conceding the claim without national harmonisation of leave entitlements.
