The Labour Court recommended that the Seamen's Union Of Ireland agree to Irish Ferries implementing a Ship Management Contract for Pursers and Ratings on its Ireland-France service. The Court said there was no realistic prospect of achieving the required savings for those grades by other means.
The Court considered the union’s concerns about the suitability of redeployment valid, but made no recommendation on the issue because it was the subject of a separate referral. It also recommended a joint review of the Irish Sea route with relevant unions and independent consultants. The recommendation was dated 24 February 2005.
