The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Nurses Organisation accept and the Western Health Board implement its on-call offer for offshore public health nurses. It did not recommend the union’s claim for extra annual leave. The recommendation was signed on 23 February 2005. The union argued that the nurses’ weekend and public holiday duties meant their annual leave should be calculated on a seven-day week. The Court considered the Board’s on-call offer reasonable in the circumstances.
