The Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus's cabin crew overtime proposal be put to members for a ballot. Its recommendation, dated 14 February 2005, followed the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union's claim for overtime payments above 70 hours in a fortnight.
The company proposed time and a half for the first five hours above 70 in an unplanned roster and double time for hours from 75 to 78. For planned rosters, double time would apply to rostered hours up to 75. Credits would apply up to 70 hours, and the 78-hour limit would remain. The union had sought payments retrospectively from 1 May 2002.
The Court considered the proposal reasonable and recommended a ballot. It did not support retrospective payments, noting that credits were already paid for hours above 70 per fortnight. The source gives no result for the proposed ballot.
