Labour Court sends Saturday racing pay dispute back to talks

By Eimear Byrne

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Turf Club and Mandate urgently resume talks on compensation for racing officials who volunteer for Saturday evening meetings. The recommendation, signed on 12 November 2004, said the parties could return to the Court if they had not agreed on outstanding points by the end of January 2005. Mandate had sought higher allowances, including increased pay when a Saturday meeting was followed by racing on Sunday.
