In 2004, the Labour Court recommended €500 compensation for each of five part-time school bus drivers after a new school shortened their routes and schedules. Bus Eireann and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union were the parties to the dispute. The Court said the parties should follow their agreement on route changes, but found that the effect on the drivers' earnings had not been fully explained. Given how long the drivers had maintained their earnings, it considered that failure unfair. The recommendation was signed on 15 November 2004.
