In 2004, the Labour Court recommended that Omega Teknika Limited’s proposal on craft staffing and recruitment be accepted in its dispute with Amicus. The recommendation was signed on 27 October 2004. The dispute concerned whether a 2000 productivity agreement required the company to restore its craft workforce to four and appoint a senior craftsperson, as well as the qualifications for a new recruit. The Court considered the company’s proposal reasonable and consistent with the agreement’s spirit, and did not accept the union’s interpretation that the agreement fixed the complement at four.
