In 2004, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union accept Tabor Lodge’s proposals for its deputy administrator’s out-of-hours emergency service, subject to a review after one year. The recommendation was signed on 26 October 2004. The union sought a one-in-four rota, arguing that year-round availability without a protocol or remuneration was unreasonable. Tabor Lodge proposed limiting calls to emergencies, placing the deputy administrator fourth on the list and providing time off in lieu when she dealt with a call. The Court said the number of calls was small and recommended the employer’s proposal.
