The Labour Court recommended placing two AIB Bank workers on the 15th point of the Bank Officials scale, with a salary of €34,317 and their €3,315 overscale payment retained, for a combined salary of €37,632. The salary was to take effect from 1 August 2004. The recommendation was signed on 21 October 2004. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the Senior Bank Official scale for the workers, whose Stationary Department roles had been outsourced. AIB Bank said the Senior Bank Official grade was closed and had not been open to Stationary Department staff. The Court said it was not feasible or justified to reopen the grade and recommended the revised Bank Officials scale instead.
