Labour Court recommends reduced allowance for Mid Western Health Board worker

The Labour Court recommended that a worker at the Mid Western Health Board receive a red-circled allowance reduced so her combined salary and allowance would not exceed the maximum of the Clinical Nurse Manager II scale. The recommendation was dated 14 October 2004. The union argued that her existing 90% allowance did not remove her entitlement to compensation for the loss of a pay differential. The Board said her combined pay was already close to the Clinical Nurse Manager II scale and that it had agreed to pay 10% of the red-circled £750 allowance. The Court said granting the full claim would take her pay above that grade. It recommended a reduced allowance to keep her combined salary within the scale maximum.
