In 2004, the Labour Court did not recommend the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for longer annual leave for childcare workers and leaders at St Michaels Childcare Centre. The union said staff had expected 28 or 29 days’ leave based on draft terms issued during the centre’s transfer to the South Eastern Health Board. The Court found the higher leave entitlement had not been incorporated into employment conditions and that a national agreement on leave applied. Its recommendation was signed on 28 September 2004.
