In 2004, the Labour Court recommended that Gilmartins Cash & Carry and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union work together to implement a consultant's safety recommendations at the company's Claremorris outlet. The union had sought double-time overtime rates, pay for training outside normal hours and an electric pallet lifter. The Court said future overtime at double-time rates should be addressed if it arose, and recommended accepting the employer's position on training pay. On the pallet lifter, the Court noted that the consultant had not recommended one and called for the parties to implement the consultant's recommendations in full. The recommendation was signed on 15 July 2004.
