The Labour Court recommended that Donegal Meat Processors implement the Sustaining Progress pay agreement in full after finding it had not shown it was unable to pay. The company estimated the agreement would cost €276,000 to 30 June 2004 and €289,000 a year after that, citing financial pressures, BSE and overcapacity. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union pointed to company profits and argued the financial information did not support the claim. The Court said it was not convinced the company lacked any capacity to pay. It signed the recommendation on 12 July 2004.
