The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Employers Agency, the Irish Nurses Organisation and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union ask consultants to clarify whether bed-manager posts were evaluated as equivalent to Grade 8, 7 or 6 posts. The recommendation was dated 21 June 2004. The parties were to address grading and pay in light of the clarification. The Court said that if the consultants had evaluated the posts as equivalent, there could be no justification for paying a lower salary and benefits. If agreement was not reached, the matter could return to the Court for a definitive recommendation.
