The Labour Court said the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union could raise issues in negotiations over Limerick City Council's proposed shift changes for fire service officers. The recommendation was dated 21 June 2004. It did not uphold the Council’s complaint and expressed no view on the merits of the union’s claim. The Council proposed moving some officers from a 24-hour system to a 15/9-hour roster. The union sought four additional posts and more leave or time off in connection with the change. The Council argued the claim was barred under Sustaining Progress and asked the Court not to decide its merits.
