The Labour Court recommended that Enterprise Ireland and Amicus acknowledge a pay anomaly affecting Senior Scientific Officers and resume negotiations to address it. The recommendation was dated 21 June 2004; if the parties failed to agree within three months, the matter could be referred back to the Court. Amicus sought the 13.8% benchmarking award for the grade, arguing it should match the Level E Solution grade. The Court said the anomaly arose from the creation of that grade in 1999, rather than from the benchmarking awards, and noted that the two groups continued to do work with the same responsibilities, content and qualifications.
