In 2004, the Labour Court recommended a review of changes to craftworkers’ jobs at Beamish & Crawford after four months, followed by discussions between the company and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union about an appropriate productivity payment. The union sought €77 a week for nine craftworkers, matching a payment made to bottling plant operators. The Court said the changes were not radical or comparable to those required of the operators. It did not recommend introducing annualised hours at that time. The recommendation was dated 23 February 2004.
