The Labour Court recommended that talks begin without delay to establish an appropriate rate for nurses employed in the film industry. The recommendation was dated 9 February 2004. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a pay increase for a construction nurse employed by Leeson Productions Ltd on Laws of Attraction. The union said she received about €20.01 an hour, compared with about €26 an hour for occupational health nurses. The company said her rate was in line with other construction workers and the union’s proposed rates had not been negotiated with employers. The Court noted that the rate was below the rate generally paid to occupational health nurses and recommended talks to agree an appropriate rate for nurses in the industry.
