The Labour Court recommended that Millerpak Limited pay €500 each to three employees for relocation costs and inconvenience after the company moved from Kylemore Road to St Margaret’s Road, Finglas. Its recommendation was dated 20 November 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, representing eight employees, raised pay, sick pay, pensions, workplace procedures and relocation. Millerpak said it communicated directly with staff and opposed collective bargaining with the union. The Court recommended applying Programme for Prosperity & Fairness increases where cost-of-living rises had fallen short, according to service. It also recommended grievance, disciplinary, bullying and harassment procedures, a formal sick-pay scheme of up to 10 paid days a year for certified illness, and a defined-contribution pension scheme with equal employer and employee contributions.
