The Labour Court did not recommend concession of Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim that a worker should have access to Irish Fertiliser Industries Limited’s voluntary redundancy package. The recommendation was dated 5 November 2003. The worker, who had 37 years’ service, said the company had agreed to his request before later refusing it. The company said it received no written application or commitment. It said the package would have exceeded €100,000 and that he had received about €43,000 in statutory entitlements. The Court accepted that a completed RP1 form was required and found no evidence one had been signed.
