The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for continuation or compensation over a site allowance for about 65 security guards employed by Securicor Security Services. The recommendation was dated 5 November 2003. Dell had funded the allowance, which was paid to guards at sites in Limerick, Bray and Dublin (Cherrywood). Dell ended its funding in June 2003. The Court said payment depended on continued client funding, although it considered that ending the subsidy when the contract expired would have been fairer.
