In 2003, the Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann offer €350 to each affected clerical employee in full and final settlement of claims arising from the Heuston Station refurbishment. The recommendation was dated 30 September 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought €500 per person, saying staff faced inconvenience and adapted to technology changes. The company said the disturbance was minimal and most work took place away from the booking office.
