In 2003, the Labour Court found that a worker released from a FÁS Jobs Club had not been unfairly dismissed. The Court said he was a programme participant, not an employee under a contract of employment, and did not recommend in favour of his claim. Its recommendation was signed on 22 September 2003. The worker took part in the Jobs Club from 29 July 2002 to 4 March 2003. He wanted to continue on the project and said its termination was unfair. Fás Training Centre said he was a trainee on a programme designed to prepare participants for work, and that he had received his full entitlement to take part.
