The Labour Court recommended that University College Cork retain existing early pay dates for 100 security/services and departmental operatives until the parties agree compensation for changing to standard public-service dates. The recommendation was dated 15 September 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the change would create a 12- or 10-month pause between increases and that the College’s €300-per-worker offer was inadequate. The College said increases had to follow the dates in Sustaining Progress and could not be paid in advance. The Court said the long-standing arrangement could continue while the parties resumed talks, and recommended calculating the loss incrementally.
