The Labour Court recommended a review of Trinity College’s craft supervisory structure before the position of an unnamed worker seeking promotion from chargehand to co-ordinator is reconsidered. The Court’s recommendation was dated 15 September 2003. The Building and Allied Trades Union said the worker’s responsibilities went beyond those expected of a craft chargehand. Trinity College said the duties were normal for the grade and did not justify promotion. The Court considered that some duties might support a higher grade, but said regrading to co-ordinator was not warranted. It recommended that the College review the structure with relevant unions, then review the worker’s position.
