In 2003, the Labour Court recommended that Pfizer Ireland not concede a claim by Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for additional holidays for 77 workers in two branches at its Dun Laoghaire plants. The union said Dublin workers had negotiated additional leave in 1980 in return for computerisation and eight lost jobs. Pfizer Ireland said the workers already had more leave than Cork counterparts and estimated the claim would cost about €120,000. The Court found the claimants had not lost conditions through the holiday harmonisation. It heard the case on 28 August and dated its recommendation 15 September 2003.
