The Labour Court recommended that Gresham Hotel Group PLC and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union resume negotiations over a goodwill gesture for about 330 staff at three hotels being sold. Its recommendation was dated 22 September 2003. The union sought a loyalty bonus, citing a €5,000 payment to staff at the Royal Marine Hotel. The Court said that case arose in substantially different circumstances and that the evidence did not show loyalty payments were normal industry practice. It did not recommend a bonus, but said negotiations should resume immediately and conclude within a month.
