The Labour Court recommended that the Department Of Defence not concede a union claim for compensation for two workers affected by the closure of workshops at Cathal Brugha Barracks. The Building And Allied Trades' Union argued the workers should receive the package agreed for the closure of Clancy Barracks, which included a once-off €635 payment for workers transferred to different barracks. The Department said that agreement applied only to workers at Clancy Barracks and the two workers remained at the same barracks. The Court said the agreement did not apply to them. Its recommendation was dated 24 July 2003.
