The Labour Court recommended payments for eight workers affected by Flextronics Limited's relocation from Castletroy, Co Limerick, to Shannon, Co Clare. It recommended €1,250 for each of four workers who had no option but to transfer, and €600 for each of four who accepted jobs in Shannon and waived redundancy. The recommendation was dated 10 July 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the move increased travel costs and lengthened the working day, and that the workers had not been given access to a voluntary exit mechanism available to colleagues. The company provided a written statement but did not attend the hearing. The Court considered that statement and the union's submissions.
