Labour Court recommends early retirement application at Hertz Europe Service Centre

The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Hertz Europe Service Centre Limited formally apply for early retirement and that the company process the application. The recommendation was dated 7 July 2003. The worker raised concerns about working hours, productivity, bank holiday pay and sick pay, and sought compensation and early retirement. Hertz Europe Service Centre Limited said it had agreed to increase his hours in January 2003, but the review was interrupted by leave and sick leave, and offered to assist with an early-retirement application. The Court recommended that the company respond to the holiday-pay issues, that the worker attend the company doctor about sick pay, and that the company process an early-retirement application. It did not recommend compensation, saying the available options had not been sufficiently explored.
