The Labour Court did not recommend that Bord Na Mona concede the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union’s claim for compensation over production losses linked to a Brush Ridger machine at Oweninney. The recommendation was signed on 23 June 2003. The union said workers in Section 4 had lost production after the machine was introduced in 1996. The company cited weather, drainage, equipment maintenance and drying time, and said the section also had the lowest production in 1997, when the machine was not in use.
