The Labour Court recommended proposals as the basis for settling a dispute between Bulmers Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over progression from TO1 to TO2 for processing workers. The recommendation was dated 23 June 2003. The union argued beer-handling training should not be required for progression. Bulmers said handling any liquid, including beer, was covered by the agreement and was a core competency for the grades. The proposals would upgrade eligible TO1 workers who lacked only beer-handling training, provided they completed it by the end of March 2003. The Court recommended the proposals as the appropriate basis for settlement.
