The Labour Court recommended that the Mid Western Health Board apply the appropriate Community Welfare Officer and Superintendent Community Welfare Officer increments from the dates 14 identified officers took up acting posts. The recommendation was dated 18 June 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought incremental credit for the periods the officers served in acting posts. The Board said the matter had been settled in 2001 and that the claim could have wider cost implications. The Court found that unequal increment payments had contributed to an inequitable reward system, and that the Board’s 2001 change addressed the issue going forward but not retrospectively.
