In 2003, the Labour Court recommended that craft workers at Dairygold (Galtee Foods) accept the company's final offer to improve their pension arrangements. The recommendation followed a claim by the Amalgamated Engineering And Electrical Union on behalf of 14 craft workers. The union said the existing scheme was inadequate; the company said the craft workers had been offered the chance to join an improved scheme at a 5% contribution rate, but had rejected it. The Court considered the final offer a substantial improvement in line with arrangements for comparable employees and recommended that it be accepted. The recommendation was dated 7 May 2003.
