Labour Court recommends conditional zoning allowance for Iarnrod Eireann inspectors

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

In 2003, the Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann apply the zoning allowance to the claimants when they met the qualifying conditions. The dispute also concerned regrading two inspectors from Class B/C to Class D; the Court recommended that their applications be handled promptly through company procedures, with unresolved issues eligible to return to the Court. It did not recommend tunnel allowance for supervisors and inspectors, finding the payment inappropriate. The union in the case was Transport Salaried Staffs' Association. The recommendation was signed on 8 May 2003.
