The Labour Court recommended that Little Chic Knitwear Limited pay four redundant workers an additional sum equivalent to the rebate applicable to each worker's statutory redundancy payment. It issued the recommendation on 23 April 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought better terms, saying statutory payments were inadequate and the company had not made its accounts or order book available. The company said it could not afford enhanced terms after losing a major contract and was trying to preserve its nine remaining jobs. The Court cited the company's financial circumstances and the alternative jobs secured for the workers.
