The Labour Court found that O’Callaghan Hotels handled a worker’s dismissal unfairly and recommended €2,500 compensation. The worker was a bar manager at the Davenport Hotel. The Court accepted that drinking on the premises and fraternising with customers were dismissal offences. It said the worker had not been made aware of the seriousness of the meeting about the incident, that the incident was not fully investigated and that there was no facility to appeal. The Court noted that the worker may have contributed to the dismissal. Its recommendation was signed on 27 March 2003.
