In 2003, the Labour Court recommended conceding the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union’s claim for a 1% lump sum for workers covered by the agreement between the Electrical Contractors' Association and the Association of Electrical Contractors of Ireland. The employers argued that electricians were outside the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness and covered by a Registered Employment Agreement. The Court said it was reasonable to assume the analogue companies had applied the PPF and paid the lump sum on the due date, and recommended applying it to workers covered by the agreement. The recommendation was dated 18 March 2003.
