In 2003, the Labour Court clarified that Novartis Ringaskiddy Limited's offer for consideration was a quarter of an increment for each year of external service. The case concerned the interpretation of an earlier recommendation on starting pay and staff assimilation onto a new scale. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the company had not addressed the starting rate, assimilation or retrospection. The Court considered the submissions and spoke to the Industrial Relations Officer involved. The clarification was dated 10 March 2003.
