In 2003, the Labour Court recommended an evaluation of College Farm Steward and Research Technician (Farm Manager) posts after three stewards sought the research technicians' pay rate. The parties were to agree the review's terms and comparators. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued the jobs involved similar work; Teagasc said the research role required more technical knowledge. The Court said the evaluation would not itself commit the parties to a pay adjustment. Its recommendation was dated 7 March 2003.
