In 2003, the Labour Court recommended a 4.6% pay increase for production operators at Honeywell Iropharm, in return for identifying cost offsets worth 4.6%. It also recommended an €800 goodwill payment for each person covered by the claim. The recommendation was signed on 4 March 2003. The dispute was with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union had sought a 4.6% basic pay increase, an ongoing stipend and a lump sum in lieu of retrospection. The company had offered a 2% increase and €500 per person, while saying that any pay increases needed to be offset by savings. The Court said the company's earlier mistake did not justify a pay increase and found no agreed differential between production operators and warehouse operators. It also recommended negotiations over the established end-of-week overtime practice if the company wished to discontinue it. The Court recommended the proposal as a full and final settlement if accepted by both parties.
